Zara's Alterations is appointment-only. Standard and Wedding / Bridal fittings can be requested online.
Include the garment and alteration details in the booking form. If photos would help, you can text them after submitting the request.

Do I need an appointment?
- Yes. Zara's Alterations is appointment-only. Standard and Wedding / Bridal fittings can be requested online.
Can I walk in?
- No. Walk-ins are not accepted. Request an appointment before visiting.
Can I text photos first?
- If photos would help Zara understand the garment or alteration, you may text them after submitting your booking request.
Where is Zara's Alterations located?
- Zara works from a home-based studio in Burlington, Ontario. Location details are provided through the booking process.
Do you serve customers outside Burlington?
- Yes. Customers also come from surrounding communities including Oakville, Waterdown, Milton.
How much do alterations cost?
- Current guide prices are pants hemming / shortening starting at $15; reducing / taking in pants waist starting at $25; dress shortening starting at $35; suit-jacket sleeve shortening starting at $50. Starting prices are provided as a guide for common alterations. Final pricing depends on the garment, fabric, construction, and work required. Zara will confirm the price after seeing the item.
How long do alterations take?
- Completion timing is discussed after Zara sees the garment and understands the construction, work required, and current workload.
Can you handle rush alterations?
- Rush work may sometimes be possible depending on the alteration and Zara's current workload. Please call or text Zara directly.
Do I try the clothing on during the fitting?
- Yes. Where a fitting is appropriate, you can try on the garment so Zara can assess the fit and the alterations required.
Do you alter wedding and bridesmaid dresses?
- Yes. Zara works on wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, formal dresses, and detail work including bustles, cups, lace, and beadwork alterations or repair.
Do you repair and replace zippers?
- Yes. Zara repairs and replaces zippers in appropriate garments, including jeans, coats, winter jackets, and other outerwear.
Do you alter suits and jackets?
- Yes. Suit, sport-coat, jacket, sleeve, and dress-shirt alterations are available by appointment.
Do you work on leather and suede?
- Yes, depending on the item and the work required. Contact Zara with the item or text photos first so she can assess whether the project is possible.
Do you do custom sewing?
- Yes. Custom sewing may include curtains, pillowcases, cushion covers, duvets, custom tote bags, and other agreed projects. Contact Zara to discuss what you have in mind.
